BATAVIA...WARSAW...ORCHARD PARK...SPRINGVILLE 255 PM EDT FRI JUL 23 2010 ...SHOWERS AND STRONG THUNDERSTORMS THIS AFTERNOON... AT 300 PM SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS CONTINUED IN A VERY HUMID AIRMASS ACROSS THE NIAGARA FRONTIER. THOUGH THERE WILL BE RAIN FREE PERIODS...EXPECT SOME STORMS TO BRING A DRENCHING RAINFALL WITH REDUCED VISIBILITIES. ALSO ANY THUNDERSTORM CAN PRODUCE FREQUENT CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING AND A GUSTY WIND. AT 300 PM ACTIVITY WAS GENERALLY CONFINED TO PARTS OF WYOMING COUNTY WITH THE REMAINDER OF THE REGION DRY. UPSTREAM AND JUST TO THE WEST OF BUFFALO ADDITIONAL THUNDERSTORMS WERE BLOSSOMING OVER CANADA AND THIS ACTIVITY IS EXPECTED TO CROSS INTO THE NIAGARA FRONTIER LATER THIS AFTERNOON. THE ADDITIONAL RAINFALL WILL CAUSE MANY AREA SMALL STREAMS TO BE NEARING BANK FULL. THE ALREADY SATURATED GROUND WILL CREATE ADDITIONAL RUN OFF WHICH WILL CAUSE STREAMS, DITCHES, AND CULVERTS TO POSSIBLY OVERFLOW. ADDITIONALLY, POOR DRAINAGE FLOODING AND SIGNIFICANT PONDING ON AREA ROADWAYS IS EXPECTED THROUGH THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING HOURS.
