Uvalde Agents Foil Smuggling Attempt





Del Rio, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Uvalde Station seized 94 pounds of marijuana, valued at more than $75,000.
Agents seize 94 lbs of marijuana hidden throughout the vehicle.
Wednesday evening, a man driving a 1998 Chevrolet Venture entered the immigration checkpoint on Highway 90 near Uvalde. The driver of the vehicle was referred to a secondary inspection area after a Border Patrol canine alerted to the presence of contraband. A subsequent search yielded 65 small packages of marijuana hidden throughout the vehicle. The subject, a 28-year-old Del Rio resident, and the drugs were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.

CBP is charged with keeping terrorists and terrorist weapons out of the country while enforcing hundreds of U.S. laws.
