Agents Seize Black Tar Heroin, Arrest Two

Yuma, Ariz. – Border Patrol agents seized approximately 17 pounds of black tar heroin and arrested two suspected smugglers, both U.S. citizens, yesterday morning at a checkpoint near Quartzite.

Blythe agents working the checkpoint at mile marker 76 on Highway 95 referred a black pickup truck for secondary inspection following a positive canine team alert. During a search of the vehicle, agents found 10 wrapped packages of black tar heroin, with an estimated value of $230,384, concealed inside a speaker box. The narcotics, the driver and passenger, and vehicle were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
