General Officer Announcements

             The chief of staff, Army announced today the following officer assignments:
            Maj. Gen. Gary H. Cheek, director, Military Personnel Management, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-1, U.S. Army, Washington, D.C., to deputy commanding general, Third Army/U.S. Army Central, New Kabul Compound, Afghanistan.
            Maj. Gen. Terry A. Wolff, to director, force development, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-8, U.S. Army, Washington, D.C.  Wolff most recently served as commanding general, 1st Armored DivisionU.S. Army Europe and Seventh Army, Germany.
            Brig. Gen. Theodore D. Martin, commandant, U.S. Army Armor SchoolFort Benning, Ga., to commandant of cadets, U.S. Military Academy, West Point, N.Y.
            Brig. Gen. Richard P. Mustion, the Adjutant General/commanding general, Physical Disability Agency/executive director, Military Postal Service Agency, Fort Knox, Ky., to director, Military Personnel Management, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-1, U.S. Army, Washington, D.C.
             Brig. Gen. John R. O'Connor, director for operations and logistics readiness (G-43), Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-4, U.S. Army, Washington, D.C., to deputy chief of staff, G-4, U.S. Army Forces CommandFort McPherson, Ga.
             Col. Matthew L. Brand, who has been selected for the rank of brigadier general, deputy director of strategy, plans and policy, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-3/5/7, U.S. Army, Washington, D.C., to deputy chief, support/security assistance, Office of the Defense Representative, Pakistan.
