Rio Grande City, Texas ─ U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Rio Grande City Station confiscated approximately $2,500 worth of fireworks, 250 rounds of 9 mm ammunition and nearly 4,000 pounds of marijuana in multiple incidents over the New Year’s holiday weekend.
The fireworks and ammunition were seized Friday when agents working in Fronton, Texas, observed several people carrying bundles south toward the Rio Grande. When the group was approached by the agents, they dropped the bundles and ran into some thick brush near the river. The agents found the ammunition and fireworks inside the bundles that were left behind by the smugglers.
